Sinkhole swallows cars at outlet mall in Lancaster County

A sinkhole opened in the back of Tanger Outlets in East Lampeter Township around 4:30 p.m. Friday. It is at a newer section of the outlets off of Route 30 in Lancaster County.

No injuries were reported but several cars were swallowed by the sinkhole.

One woman who was in the car when the incident happened said she was texting a friend when suddenly she was in the ground. A passerby was able to help her get out.

There are concerns that the sinkhole will spread, officials say. Witnesses said the cars are continuing to sink.

A crane is being brought in to help remove the cars from the sinkhole.
